Steven runs The London MarathonSteve Skippen was one of 32,000 people who completed the London Marathon, his aim to raise money to pay for the only treatment that could save his precious daughter's life. Steve was on course to finish the marathon in five hours but a fourteenth-mile leg injury forced him to hobble in pain the remaining distance, crossing the finish line in just over seven hours. 'Stopping was not an option – I had to keep going for Maya,' a victorious Steve said. His dedication and endurance raised £3,700 to help save his daughter's life. Charity Ice-Hockey matchThe Maya Community Appeal was given a boost when the Romford Raiders took on the Sheffield Scimitars in a charity ice-hockey match. The generosity of all those playing and attending raised £1,700, which was presented as a cheque to Maya. Maya's grateful father, Steve, describes it as a 'step closer to America', but more fund-raising events are required to meet the enormous costs of the US treatment that Maya so urgently needs. |

Paul Wakeling, the Principal of Havering Sixth Form College is going to raise money for Maya by attempting the Lyke Wake walk. He will be accompanied by 2 old friends Guy Abbi and Phil Healy. The Lyke Wake walk is one of the toughest walks in the United Kingdom, forty miles in twenty four hours. The harsh terrain of the North Yorkshire Moors, from Osmotherley to Ravenscar has only one stopping point along the track, The Lion Public House.
